A little bird reports that Mr. Martin Owenby, recently of New York City, will soon be returning to Willoby County on account of the tragic disappearance of his brother, Leon Owenby, age 65. Older readers may recall the performance of Mr. Martin Owenby’s play, “Second Coming,” at the Playmakers Theatre in Chapel Hill in 1958, for which a substantial contingent of our local citizenry were in attendance. Archives of this paper indicate that upon returning, the mayor, Elijah Ledford, now deceased, stated that he didn’t know quite what to make of the performance. Other members of the Willoby party, however, reported that it had indeed been a cultural experience.
